What’s That Fish
Being a novice fisherman, it was difficult identifying the fish I was catching. By the time I looked through all the charts and booklets to try and figure out what I had caught the poor thing was dead! Identifying was one thing, then there were the bag limits and minimum size requirements.
So I came up with this ‘prototype’ version of What’s That Fish to help identify the fish you’ve caught ( more fish species will be added as time progresses ). As long as you have internet coverage, simply take a picture of the fish with your phone, wait a few seconds ( dependant on your coverage ) and you should receive an image of the fish species you have caught along with the Minimum size limits and Bag limits and Possession limits for that species.
As our fish library increases in size, there will be greater accuracy in identifying the fish. As there are so many variations of the same fish, there may be an error now and again, please bear with us on this as the system must find a fish already in the data base that looks more like this one than any other on the data base.
Future versions will have a description tab so you can select a fish from an alphabetic list. Information will be listed as to:
- what regions they can be caught,
- the best bait or lure to use
- and once you’ve caught it there could possibly be some recipes as well.
